EXCLUSIVE: Georgia Republicans ram through new election rule at “illegal” meeting with support from top RNC election official
The meeting was unplanned, unscheduled and uncalled for, Democrats contend. But high-up Republicans appear to have known it was coming.
Republican election officials in Georgia rammed through a rule that allows for more poll watchers in what Democrats called an “illegal” meeting held on short notice Friday afternoon. The rule changes came with guidance directly from the Georgia Republican Party and in coordination with the Republican National Committee’s lead elections liaison, American Doom has found.
The change, passed without the consent of the Georgia State Election Board’s lone Democrat will allow for additional poll watchers to observe vote counting in all locations where votes are tabulated — a sticking point among election deniers who believe that poll workers have improperly handled or even discarded ballots. The new rule was passed by a trio of Republican election conspiracists who sit on the State Election Board (SEB).
Perhaps most importantly, documents obtained by American Doom show the involvement of much more powerful figures within the Republican party.
This post is behind a paywall for a couple reasons, but to be honest with you it’s mostly because I’ve blown an entire Friday afternoon reporting on this madness — which would not be happening if Republicans didn’t believe in fairy tales about widespread election fraud. But this post is also behind a paywall because it’s the only way I can make a living by reporting on this stuff. American Doom is the only publication focusing on the issue of local election officials refusing to certify election results, which will be a key part of Trump’s plans to call November into question.
